Vincent Callebaut  has put forward an alternative future forthe victims of rising water if current climate change predictions take affect. He called this project “Lilypad“,but this ecotectural marvel is also called as “Floating Ecopolis forClimate Refugees”.

Floating City Project Concept





The floating ecopolis, inspired by Amazonian lilypads, aredesigned to be completely self-sufficient in both power and water, throughsolar power, wind turbines and rainfall collection. The whole structure iscovered in green walls and roofs, the top portion covered in grasses with theinner portion featuring a palm oasis, and the under portion serving as a bedfor natural sea planktons and oceanic plants.

Vincent Callebaut believes the world will be desperatelyseeking shelter from the devastations of climate change, and hopes theauto-sufficient amphibious city will serve as a luxurious solution. To bad thatright now we are close to 7 billion people and this luxurious future retreat isjust for 50,000 inhabitants ( just for rich people ).
