I have been to different state and I have stayed in different state. I think if an individual had stayed for one year in a state, the indivudual is eligible for in state tuition, that is the general rule I observed in all the state I have stayed. My wife is studying. I don't pay any fee for her. The tuition is covered under HOPE scholarship.
My status I140 approved and I485 pending.
Can you please explain little more about opening your own e-business and File E visa. What type of e-business to start? How to file E-VISA ? Have you filed yet ?

Good Questions. Would you be willing to jump into the field and start motivating people to be part of IV and be actively involved in IV Action Items?. Would you be willing to find out what is stopping people from getting involved with IV?. We are always short on Volunteers to work on IV Activities and we definately welcome newbies willing to work for this cause. We have a few highly dedicated volunteers who spend time educating other people about IV, forming state chapters, recruiting members into state chapters, organizing chapter events, raising funds and the list can go on. These volunteers have 24 hours in a day just like everyone else and they have full time jobs, families, careers, schools to attend etc. Would you be willing to go out and recruit volunteers for us?
Sure. Like I stated before, I have been educating people about IV here for quite some time now. Let me know what needs to be done. If you all can share your experiences, I can work on it.

:) wait till september, i betting we will see 25-28k eb2 approvals, good for them i guess. it is typical with USCIS, towards the end of the year they wake up and go overtime in approving the cases.
I wonder why USCIS/DOS don't spread the workload across consular posts. During Jul2007 fiasco, most of the I-485 application till Jan'2007 PDs are filed. Now if DOS make the PD for all categories to lets say 2006, they won't recieve any new applications and consular posts could use some numbers.
In fact, people who opted for AOS will also go for CP if consular posts can process them. This will help take some workload off of USCIS. But I don't know why they don't do it.

seekerofpeace - I hope they have not lost my file. I have not been able to get a concrete answer so far as to what is happening with my file.
My attorney had filed 140s for in EB2/EB3 and I hope they have not taken my app and classified it as EB3. We sent the EB2 I-140 with the AOS app so I dont think that would happen but stranger things have happened with USCIS.
Response that I got from the local senator and from what I read in the other thread you created, I think visa numbers are over for 2009 fiscal year. We will now have to wait until October. I dont mind waiting until October, but I want to use the next 15 days doing whatever I can, so atleast in October, I have some chance of getting approved.
Good luck to you, hope everyone who is waiting gets the good news soon.

Not so fast...the bill language clearly indicates that the provisions of this bill will take effect from the first fiscal day of the new fiscal year after this bill becomes an act...so unless this bill is voted by the house and senate and then signed by the President before September 30th, we will not be seeing any benefit until the fiscal year starting October 1st, 2009. After the September session, Congress will convene again in November/December timeframe for a short session. If the bill does not get passed then, then come next January, it will be starting the process all over again as it will be a new year for the Congress. Just like green cards, Congress does not carry over bills from one year to the next.
OOPS, we need an amendment to change the effective date, Damn.

Gurus,
Please tell us what these poll numbers mean.
How many eb3-I are pending? How many are going to get approved every year if there are no spill overs?
My priority date is Sep-2002. What time frame am I looking at here?

Why ??
For EB2 and EB3 dates never crossed july 2007 after July fiasco...
and in your analsis during 2008 you mentioned 20K for EB2 and 5k for Eb3, which is impossible to happen... does that make sense?

A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on and we don't believe it can do anything. The sooner IV accepts it, the better. I have seen this personally in talking to people and you can see the evidence with less than 300 people contributing. IV needs to produce results first.
Before you ladies jump on me with your (p)curses for personal attacks, read on.
IV needs to figure out other ways to generate cash if it thinks that would help. One way would be advertising on the site. I think IV has built this website well and it is an asset it needs to use NOW. I believe IV can charge up to $10,000 a day for advertising on the website. That would be $300,000/month or $3.6 million a year. Even $3000/day would result in over $1 million. That should not be very difficult to do.
A lot of people told us in Jan 2006, that IV will not survive. A lot of people thought that we wont be able to cross $10,000 mark. That includes myself. I did not think we would come this far in first week of Jan 2006. I hadnt met anyone else in core in person. I didnt know CIR will not pass in 2006.
Things turned out pretty good as you can see, as far as support, membership and contributions go.
As far as ads are concerned, I dont think we can generate more than 2000 a month in advertisement and its not worth it making the site look like a commercial outlet rather than a non-profit grassroots advocacy site.

So please ask for your rights but remember you are in their country, nobody forced you to come here, and beggars can't be choosers.
Not everyone is an economic refugee and it should never be assumed to be the case or status quo. We pay taxes just like everyone else while some invest here and have a right to be represented by whomever makes decisions in congress besides we do pay taxes that goes towards their salaries and maintaining congressional offices. What would the US be like if the founders of immigrant founded or co-founded companies had decided to found their companies in other countries ? What if Google, Ebay, Intel were Russian, French or Hungarian companies instead ? Your point is not lost though, immigration is a priviledge not a right. If they deny us this priviledge we shall reluctantly leave but it should not assumed that we shall be the one's to suffer instead this economy will feel that impact. This is a global economy with many opportunities out there.
I wonder if the bashers of the H1-B program knew that :
More than 82,000 U.S. workers and professionals have completed training through programs funded by the H-1B fees as of December 31, 2005, according to the Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration. In addition, the Bush Administration recently has used the H-1B fees to provide multi-year grants to communities for training and economic revitalization. Through the WIRED (Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development) initiative, the U.S. Department of Labor is providing $195 million in grants to thirteen regional economies.
or that :
The H-1B fees paid by companies have funded more than 40,000 scholarships for U.S. students in math and science through the National Science Foundation. The fees obtained from employers have also funded hands-on science programs for 80,000 middle and high school students and 3,700 teachers. In addition, more than 55,000 U.S. workers and professionals have received training through the H-1B fees paid by companies.

Do you think it might be a good idea to ask people to pledge amount that they don't know how much is going to be ?
I think instead we need to do the following.
1. Clearly state in the very first message the need for creating this thread (pls include the business week article, Pappu's comments, comment from Aman's co worker - If you need help finding it, i can do it for you).
2. Also add to it that this is for the reimbursement of the expenses of the past. We don't really want to concentrate on how this is going to be handled in the future , may be someone can come up with suggestions on what should be set aside as administrative funds and things related to that. This is only for settling the amount already spent.
3. Only pledge is required stating the amount clearly and no funding is required at this time. We will instruct all the members who pledged once we get an expert advice on how to channel these funds.
If you can make these corrections it will be great.
Will do

There's a book put out by three 'scholars' from the Manhattan Institute with an innocuous title and everything else inside it anything but! The debate is being pushed to dangerous new grounds - while many openly say that all of America's immigration problems began in the 60's, code for colored people allowed in legally, one author said it was 'wrong' to link opening up immigration to all races (by abolishing hemispherical quota) and the civil-rights movement. Ofcourse he didn't say why. They always have to make a big point about Kennedy predicting that immigration wouldn't surge with the 60's act but why the 'surge' is a bad thing in itself is never fully explained - making use of hazy data and cause and effects that are highly diffuse to be really a true 'cause/effect' is the scholarly methodology used. And ofcourse he also argued that previous waves of immigration are different from the current ones but when the argument is brought up that immigrants eventually assimilate suddenly history is no guidance - in other words don’t look at history now! Given the complete lack of spine or commonsense of IV browsers, one can only hope this is just an ugly cycle that plays itself out and decent people recover their sensibility

bought AIG insurance..twice, my dad had severe hand pain and could not take him to a doctor, cos, the docs wont accept visitors medical insurance without a cash deposit. then i tried to get pre-certification from AIG, for which they would not give it, so its a catch 22...so screw it, even if ur parents fall sick, all of a sudden when they are in the US, take them to the emergency, there is no system in place for medical insurance for visitors, every other insurance is a scam..so dont even have any hopes..just do what u need to do..there are lots of times, this country does not allow us to live more than 6 years being on h1 without a freakin green card, we have paid lots and lots of taxes which we will never claim..so, this is how they repay.
