    2. Taking a percentage of the people voting yes we get 500*42/60=350 (this changes as the voting continues)

    Cash flow with paid membership

    Result:
    Probability of getting newer members is less. Contributions to funding drive may decline altogether if we do not allow people who visit the site to ask questions.

    To generate the same cash flow with monthly funding drives

    Probability of getting more people to contribute per month is higher. Getting more commitments is higher. Getting commitment from different set of people is higher and many may chose to make one time payments.

    I have somewhat uderstood the rulemaking process. What I fail to understand is that since the rule to stop labor substitution is the final rule, does it mean that this rule has been implemented? Or is the next step for OMB to approve the final rule?

    Because I doubt that anyone willing to wash my car for a few bucks is highly skilled. Personally, I prefer, give 1 day of salary - that's way over $25, and far more effective (I get paid more than $25 for the time it takes to wash a car).

    We have to understand that there is a myriad of laws; INA, CFR's; USCIS policy binding memos; internal memos; appeals decisions, court cases, precedent aao decisions, precedent legal cases.

    Now; the ac21 memo is a memo that uscis officers have to follow. However; the memo is not in accordanc with INA 245 or AC21.

    INA 245 states that a valid and approved 140 is needed for a person to get lawful permanent residency.

    ac21 says that a person can change jobs after 485 has been pending for more then 180 days.

    The above two things are the law.

    In ac21 law; it doesn't say anything about the scenario if 140 is revoked by employer. It is totally silent to it.

    USCIS in their memos realized that ac21 law would not have any meaning if the employer still controlled the 140 if a person was eligible for ac21; therefore, they issued the memo (memo is not law but binding; memos can be changed; however, there has been nothing public about any possible change).

    Memo is clarification which they have been following for many years and as far as I know still binding.

    If we look at all the denials on 485 - when 140 is revoked the officer quotes "INA 245" and when MTR is filed - the case gets reopened stating AC21.

    It is clear that AC21 supersedes the INA 245 rule.

    Ability to pay is an interesting topic but I don't think this kind of denial has anything to do with ability to pay.

    :)I have used AIG for my in-laws visit and didn't had to use it. Why can't we add them to our insurance as dependants? Did anyone tried this?
    You cannot add parents to your insurannce specially if it is provided through your employer - the group insurance covers only nuclear family.

    Using any India based insurance is extremely risky - I know a family that went through hell and finally paid $18000 to get urgent care for their mother when she developed some tremors - this was the first time she ever got those and the India guys said it is pre-existing and denied - later the doc in India found out it was a allergic response to the pollen in Vermont. How could that be pre existing ?

    The other problem is with insurance recognition - most urgent care facilities do not recognize the India insurance or at the very least treat it with extreme skepticism - best is to use US insurance in case there are questions atleast you have a local 800 number for the hospital to call.

    These are your parents and this is the US health care system - spend a few hundred more and be safe.

    Both. Inactivity and uncaring for personal and community interest is the root cause of both GC issue as well as increasing authenticity Lou Dobbs views have been gaining in media (spawning copy-cats in the process).

    Lets face it, He has the highest ranking show in CNN. Most people who indulge in populist propaganda will be successful , at least in the short run. You need a HUGE propaganda machine even to attempt to take on him. Just read the transcripts of his program to find what kind of words he used against Newyork governor (Indicative of his arrogance from success).

    I don't give a damn who he is, or how strong he is. All I care is me and my family might get mugged by the poison he's spewing, and how to stop him in his tracks. That's enough of a motivation to do my best to stop him.



    On the other hand if some one gives me a look based on how I look, they will give it even after I get my GC and Citizenship. The mugger will not ask me my visa status. I get mugged even after I became a citizen.



    That's why I say it - You are the victim. You should care.



    This is not to support the inactivity. I appreciate the efforts put in by one and all and I believe those actions help reduce the suffering.
    This is just to point out the fact that some members wittingly or unwittingly suggesting that not having GC is cause for all problems. It certainly help alleviate some but it is not a cure all.

    Once again I am merely trying to they are two different issues.

    Real issue in both situations is inaction which is harming our community.

    Did I post something about GC here? I'm not the one linking GC with Lou Dobbs !

    Now that you've linked them, let me put it this way - As long as Lou Dobbs keeps berating "cheap imported labor", and has a "perceived" majority acceptance of his views

    1) forget any recapture of EB numbers
    2) forget any increase in GC numbers
